View(Points) is a storytelling research project that explores how immersive media (Virtual Reality/360° video) can affect perception of the international refugee crisis.
Research began in the fall of 2016. In January 2017, members of the View(Points) team interviewed volunteers, in Greece and Germany, from self-initiated aid groups assisting in refugee relief efforts. The research process was filmed in both immersive and traditional media.
We will showcase the final videos in an exhibition in New York City. An online exhibition is planned for the future. These screenings will help evaluate the impact of immersive and traditional media on perception of the international refugee crisis.
